Division One West – After two recent victories over fellow promotion rivals, Ashford Town (Middlesex) has lost its last three League matches. Sutton Coldfield Town are the latest team to peg back the Tangerines lead at the top. The Royals 2-1 win at Short Lane was secured by a Craig Owen goal in the penultimate minute. Clevedon Town drew level with Ashford at the top, thanks to a narrow 2-1 win over visiting Bracknell Town. Steve Lester scored the Seasiders winner in the last minute. Third place Willenhall Town arrested a recent run of indifferent form by winning 2-1 at Taunton Town.

But perhaps the best victory of the day was Marlow’s 2-0 success at Swindon Supermarine. John Beale and Adam Dickens scored for Marlow to keep the Blues comfortably amongst the Play-off places. Swindon’s defeat pushed them back into seventh spot, at the bottom of three clubs on 48 points. Brackley Town, who drew 1-1 at Bromsgrove Rovers, and Hemel Hempstead Town, for whom Anthony Thomas scored an 88th minute penalty to win the match at Bedworth United, both moved above ‘Marine on goal difference.

A Craig Marshall goal for Stourport Swifts earned a 1-1 draw with Solihull Borough. Swifts are now ten points ahead of Thame United at the bottom of the table, following Thame’s 5-0 defeat at Rushall Olympic. With the next five clubs all losing on Saturday, positions at the bottom of the table remain unchanged. Of these defeats, Beaconsfield’s 3-0 reverse at Leighton Town was notable for ending a six match unbeaten run.
